ESG
At Nelt Group, we are committed to integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) sustainability standards into every aspect of our business, believing they are the basis of long-term success and responsible growth. Our approach includes ethical business and continuous striving to improve the working environment, creating value for our employees, partners and the broader community while achieving good business results and responsibility towards the environment.
In our ESG strategy, we have defined principles and practices, which we apply through digitisation processes, logistics infrastructure optimisation, and innovative technologies, placing sustainability as the foundation of all our business initiatives.
- We continuously increase the use of renewable energy sources and improve our energy efficiency.
- We transform the supply chain through the implementation of intermodal solutions:
- Nelt transports tens of thousands of containers by rail, thus reducing the CO2 emissions that would be produced by truck transport.
- We use resources responsibly, manage waste and recycle:
- By optimising sales and delivery routes, we have reduced the number of deliveries and vehicles in the fleet, leading to greater efficiency and a reduction in the environmental footprint.
- With digital delivery notes, we have established a system of electronic exchange of documents, reducing paper consumption and preserving forest resources.
- We implement green initiatives:
- We participate in greening programs with our partners.
- We invest in our employees and their professional development through internal and external training.
- We provide numerous benefits:
- Private health insurance, general medical examinations, continuous earnings growth, support for moms and important family events.
- We conduct organisational health surveys and implement improvement initiatives.
- We are committed to occupational health and safety.
- We continuously cooperate with educational institutions and support young people and local communities where we operate.
- We have established a strategic partnership with UNICEF.
- We have established the CAMPUS team due to strategic cooperation with faculties in Serbia: Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering.
- We implement programs for students – A Good Start.
- We support CSR projects
- The “10 from marble” project enabled sculpture students to make their first sculptures with the support of Nelt and Professor Goran Čpajak, one of the most famous Serbian sculptors. Their works are still exhibited today at Nelt in Dobanovci.
- “Wall Street by Nelt” was implemented in 2013 with the idea of improving the working environment at Nelt and, at the same time, enabling talented artists to apply their skills in a specific business environment. Painting ten murals measuring 10 x 12 meters by renowned designers and street artists took six months, and these original murals still adorn Nelt’s complex in Dobanovci today.
- We participated in affirming the best bachelor, master and PhD students of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. More than 120 young people who stood out with their success on the national and international music scene had the opportunity to present themselves to the Belgrade audience as part of a series of concerts at the “Guarnerius” Fine Arts Centre.
- We implemented the Nelt educational program from 2014 to 2021, cooperating with 12 Hub Gallery and Nova Iskra. This was an interdisciplinary educational program for students of different faculties based on the principles of cooperation, teamwork, dialogue, sharing, openness and connection of varying knowledge and capacities. Lecturers and mentors were local, regional, and international professionals with experience in education and project and multidisciplinary work. For this program, Nelt was presented with the prestigious Virtus Award of the Trag Foundation for long-term partnership between the business and non-profit sectors.
- We supported the “Pupin – from Physical to Spiritual Reality” exhibition. In the Historical Museum of Serbia, more than 20,000 visitors and 150 school groups during 2015/16 visited this exhibition under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of Nelt and Telekom Srbija a.d. The exhibition presented Pupin’s childhood, educational and inventive path, scholarly work, national and political contributions before, during and after the Great War, the founding and improvement of the most significant scientific institutions in America, numerous charities, patents, patronage towards art and literary work crowned with the Pulitzer Prize “From Pasture to Scientist”. Visitors learned more about his involvement in the founding of NASA, why the FBI monitored his work, and his relationship with Woodrow Wilson, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein and other notable figures of the time.
- We manage our business system based on high standards of integrity, transparency and accountability:
- We have published a Code of Ethics, including the topics of anti-monopoly, anti-corruption, fair competition, human and labour rights, occupational health and safety, and environmental protection.
- We regularly and transparently report on activities and their impact on sustainability.
- Since 2014, we have been reporting on sustainability using the most relevant global reporting standard – GRI, which increases the transparency of contributions to sustainable development and provides a comprehensive picture of the impact of our business with precise performance indicators.
