Nelt BiH and UNICEF Host Young Participants from the IT Girls Summer Camp
The visit was an opportunity to put the knowledge gained through the program into practice
As part of the strategic partnership between Nelt Group and UNICEF, Nelt BiH hosted more than 50 participants of the IT Girls Summer Camp-young people who had previously taken part in IT Girls clubs, teachers, as well as representatives of UNICEF and the organizing team.
The visit gave participants an opportunity to connect the knowledge acquired through the program with practical experience and learn how technology and digital solutions are transforming modern business.
The program began with a welcome address by Suzana Sikimić, Executive Director of Nelt BiH, followed by a tour of our logistics and distribution center. During the tour, the participants had an opportunity to see how one of the leading distribution and logistics systems in Bosnia and Herzegovina operates on a daily basis.
Sanela Vezir, Logistics Director, presented the use of technology and digital solutions in logistics processes and explained how IT, automation, and data contribute to more efficient operations. Matea Golijanin, HR Specialist, spoke about career opportunities at Nelt and the skills important for future career development.
“Through visits like this, we aim to introduce young people to different career development opportunities and show them that digital skills are now applied in almost every area of business. We believe that first-hand exposure to different business roles and ways of working is a valuable step in helping them recognize their interests and potential. We hope this visit will help them take their first steps towards their future careers with greater confidence”, Matea said.
As part of the IT Girls Summer Camp, an award ceremony was also held to recognize teachers who are champions of digital transformation in education. At the event, organized at Hotel Hills in Ilidža, five teachers received awards for presenting examples of good practice and demonstrating how technology can be successfully applied in the classroom.
The ceremony was attended by Marc Lucet, UNICEF Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Sanela Vezir, who addressed the guests and took part in presenting the awards on behalf of Nelt.
“Technology alone is not enough. Its true value is created by people who have the knowledge, openness, and courage to apply it. The same applies to education-digital transformation begins with teachers who are ready to explore new approaches and introduce students to the opportunities that technology provides,” Sanela emphasized.
The IT Girls program brings together female students and teachers from schools across Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of developing digital skills, improving education, and empowering girls to explore the opportunities offered by ICT and STEM fields.
“The visit to Nelt, a successful company, showed our students just how extensively IT and AI tools are used in everyday logistics operations. This is important for our secondary school students, as it demonstrates where the IT knowledge we develop through our IT Girls clubs could take them in the near future. We look forward to bringing all these innovations and this renewed motivation back to our classrooms, especially as the new school year is just around the corner”, said Enida Mostić, a teacher at Muhsin Rizvić High School.
The partnership between Nelt Group and UNICEF is focused on creating better opportunities for education and the development of skills needed for the 21st century. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the program has reached more than 5,000 children and young people.
These activities carry particular significance in the year when Nelt BiH is celebrating two decades in business. Over the past 20 years, we have grown alongside the market and the community of which we are part. Through our partnership with UNICEF, we continue to apply our knowledge and experience to creating new opportunities for young people.
