The train from Ljubljana has arrived

A train from Ljubljana, Slovenia, arrived at Nelt’s terminal as a result of cooperation with Adria Kombi, the largest independent intermodal operator in Southeast Europe.

This is a significant step in the integration of this line into Nelt’s network of trains that already arrive from the direction of Piraeus, Bar and Rijeka. The new route offers clients, whose goods come from Western Europe via Ljubljana, the possibility of efficient rail transport, with all the advantages that Nelt’s terminal offers, to the territory of the Western Balkans.

“Nelt continues to set new standards in intermodal transport. Until now, on a weekly basis, we have serviced cargo compositions from Piraeus, Rijeka, and Bar. With the expansion of the network to Ljubljana and with real indications to expand to Thessaloniki and other directions – to ports in Western Europe and Turkey, we expect a significant increase in the number of trains arriving at our terminal.

Nelt’s Intermodal Terminal in Dobanovci is recognized as a logistics hub and dry port in the Western Balkans region. The E-75 and E-70 highways intersect at a distance of 6 km from the terminal, while Nikola Tesla Airport is 10 km away. Within Nelt’s logistics center, there is also a customs office with a warehouse, which enables full support and flexibility for different processes and product flows. With warehouses of different temperature regimes on an area of over 65,000 m2 and a delivery fleet of over 250 vehicles – the location of Nelt’s intermodal terminal is in itself an integrator of supply chains in the region.

In addition, Nelt continues to expand its network of Intermodal Terminals. The opening of another intermodal container terminal located in Kruševac is planned for the second quarter of this year. It will be a strengthening of the logistics infrastructure of the region and a territorial expansion of the Nelta logistics services portfolio. It is positioned 10 km from the EU Corridor 10, right next to the Dedina railway station and the future Moravian Corridor. With its strategic geographical position, equipped with railway tracks, this intermodal terminal provides full logistical support to clients of various industries in the region through a full dry port service.

Intermodal transport is an important link in local, national, and international sustainable development because it provides various financial, safety, social, and environmental advantages,” said Jelena Jovanić, manager of sales and service development of the Intermodal Terminal and added:

“With the ‘Belgrade Express’ service provided by Adria Kombi, it is possible to include the railway segment in combined transport, from Koper and Ljubljana in Slovenia to Surčin in Serbia, and back. This route integrates the Nelt terminal into Adriakombi’s network and is also a connection to the main European industrial centers.”
