Nelt can be a regional leader in digital transformation

A two-day joint event of the Data Management team and the “SAS” institute dubbed “Nelt-SAS Day” was held in our company in November.

This event intended to showcase new trends in the CPG industry and supply chain management in a time of constant change, and how real-time data and advanced analytics can improve the logistics and distribution business. Our company’s data management system was analyzed while considering the possibilities for its improvement.

Director of SAS in Italy and regional vice president Mirella Cerutti pointed out that it is always an interesting experience to work with companies like Nelt – companies that wholeheartedly believe in the power of analytics and who are determined to be the ones who pave the way for change and innovation. She emphasized that the mission of SAS is to empower and inspire with the most reliable analytics.

“We are very inspired by how Nelt is transforming itself in digitalization, and I hope we will continue this journey together,” Mirella said.

When asked how new trends affect Nelt’s business strategy and how to prepare for them, Altan Atabarut, Digital Transformation and Innovation Lead for the Middle East, Turkey, and Central Asia, answered that using SAS Viya’s machine learning tool can improve many aspects of the company’s business – from inventory management, cross-site administrative tasks, to notifications for supply chain employees, and many more.

“Even when basic process automation in the supply chain is completed, there is a need to build a reliable, error-free system, since many steps and processes are still done manually. However, Nelt and SAS have taken the first steps to change that,” Altan said.

He stressed that the automation we need isn’t just about human-powered transportation and manufacturing systems or machines that operate in repetitive assembly cycles, retrieval, packaging, and loading.

“Today’s supply chain needs modern and forward-looking ‘smart automation,’ not one based on old needs and ideas. ‘Smart automation’ is driven by data available to us in real-time,” he said.

General Director for SAS Adriatic Rosanda Milatović Skorić believes that Nelt is in an excellent position to be a digital transformation leader in the Western Balkans.

“Nelt can become the center of an ecosystem where decisions are made based on artificial intelligence, and which would provide data and services driven by artificial intelligence to all its partners. With that, Nelt would start providing services to its partners in their internal processes within the supply chain”, Rosanda told us.

The Nelt Group Information and Communication Technologies Executive Director, Milan Bukorović, pointed out that our company consciously decided to rely on data analytics on the path of digital transformation.

“If we want to achieve this, we must cooperate with partners who will help us to see the positive results of this business model as soon as possible and guide us towards the goal we want to achieve. This workshop was an additional source of inspiration for us on how to get the most out of our analytics using SAS tools. Another reason to continue this journey as rapidly as we can,” he said.

Executive Director for Finance Marko Cilic stated that it was a great experience to hear about the latest global trends in this area.

“At Nelt Group, we want to be at the forefront of innovation and digitization. We want to be ready for a future where advanced analytics will be the basis for decision-making. Nelt’s expertise in this business, together with SAS’s state-of-the-art technology, gives us the right platform to accelerate on that path,” Marko said.

The Data Management and Reporting Manager, Biljana Atanasković, had positive impressions.

“These were two great days full of exchange about innovations, experiences, positive energy, but also socializing. I am sure that such meetings will open up new horizons for us on the way to a data-driven company,” Biljana said.
